Erick sat up and glanced over at the sleeping James.

“Hey…Wake up…” he mumbled shoving him playfully.

“nnn?” James said sitting up.

Erick looked at the older of the two and laughed.

“What’s so funny?” James asked wrapping his arms around the younger and pulling him back down.

“…Nothing.” Erick said nuzzling his head into James chest and sniffling, trying to hold back the tears that were threating to poor out.

“Come now button,” James said rubbing his back.  “What’s wrong?”

“I-I just realized…you only have t-two months left…” Erick said wrapping his arms around him tightly. “I-I don’t want you to g-go..”

James got quiet and hugged him back. “Shh…don’t cry button…”

Erick walked through the grave yard glancing occasionally at a tomb stone. He was here to see someone…

“James….” He thought out loud sadly. He continued walking until he came to the single tomb stone, still greatly decorated in flowers and James knick knacks.

“Hey…” he said to the stone kneeling down on the ground.

“How you doing?” he asked. “heh, I know what you’d say if you could talk back…’what are you doing talking to a stone, button?’” he added playfully.

“….You always called me button…” he said sighing, putting his head in his hands. “I Miss you James.” He said his voice breaking at his name.

So I took what's mine by eternal right.

”Get up button!” James called banging on ericks door.

“Why?” Erick called sleepily from his bed.

“Because, silly!” the 22 year old said leaning against the door. “we got things to do.”

“….Gimmie a minute!” Erick called running and getting dressed. He opened the door and nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw a gnome.

“JAMES!” he yelped.

“hah!” James said pulling the gnome away from ericks face. “Got cha!”

“Ugh!” Erick said locking and shutting his door. “You’re so immature!”

“Yes and you love it.” The blond said wrapping his arms around the 16 year olds body.

“….Yeah…” Erick sighed.

”Button!” James called from the living room of his apartment. Erick was in the kitchen making James some food and came out.

“What is it?” Erick asked curiously.

James was hunched over his TD board. “I can fill out something in here.”

“Really?” Erick asked leaning over to look at it. “Witch one?”

“This one.” James said, and picked up his big black pen and wrote “Erick Calcon” after “Fall in love with”.

“…Fall in love with…me?” Erick asked looking at James. James turned around and smiled.

“Yeah.”

”James!?” Erick called walking over to James apartment and knocking.

“U-Uh just a minute!” James called form inside wordily. Erick hared some things get moved around then a crash.

“Bloody hell!” James said. Erick was worried that James got hurt and opened the door and walked in.

“J-James?” Erick said when he saw James leaning over a bottle of pills. In fact there were a lot of pills…bottles all on a little tray.

“Button!” James said looking over at him. “Wh-Why are you in here?”

“…” Erick walked over and picked up a bottle. “…why do you need all these prescription’s?”

“Erick…”

“WHY!” Erick yelled.

“…I’m dying Erick.”

“Why did you have to go!” Erick yelled at the tomb stone. But of course, the tomb stone didn’t answer back.

“Dammit why did this happen to you!?” he cried falling down in front of the stone. “WHY!”

“…James…” he sobbed. “you were my every thing…my first love…my first time…”

“I loved you James…” he cried. “I Still love you…”

“Y-Your what?” Erick said taking a step back.

“I have…a disease…and I have less than three months to live.” James said adverting his eyes from ericks.

“N-No…” Erick said dropping the bottle. “NO!”

“Erick!” James cried when Erick ran from the room and into his own apartment building.

‘he can’t die…’ Erick thought falling aignt the door once he shut it. ‘he…he can’t…i-I love him…’

“Erick.” A voice outside the door called.

“N-No…” Erick said. The door opened, pushing him out of the way.

“I’m….I’m sorry button.” James said picking the 16 year old up.

“….did you know I’m turning 17 in 5 days?” Erick said wrapping his arms around the taller man as he walked them to the couch and sat down.

Erick didn’t move from James lap. “…no I didn’t know.” James said rubbing his back.

“…I love you.” Erick said. James stopped rubbing his back.

“E-Erick?” James stuttered.

“I Do.” Erick said looking up at him. He was shocked to find tears in James eyes.

“No…no, no don’t say that.” James said letting his head fall back.

“Why?” Erick asked stunned.

“…I’m going to leave some day.” James said looking back at the boy letting his tears fall. “and if you love me back I wont want to.”

“J-James…” Erick said wrapping his arms around James neck tighter.

“hello.” A woman said walking into the class room. Erick looked up uninterested at the new teacher.

“I will be your substitute English teacher.” She said placing her bags on her desk. “I have a short assiment for you all to do.”

‘oh boy…’ Erick thought rolling his eyes. The kid in front of him passed his paper back.

“Who was the most important person in your life? And why?” the paper read.

Erick froze and smiled. “…perfect…” he said under his breath.

James kissed the younger boy on the lips and lowered him to the bed.

“J-James…” Erick cried as James started shedding there clothes.

“I love you.” James breathed into the boys neck as he placed kisses along the boys neck and chest.

“I love you too.” Erick said wrapping his arms around the older mans.

“H-Happy…seventeenth birthday, button.” James laughed a bit.

“…thanks…” Erick said kissing the man back on the lips.

“I can’t do this.” James said after they kissed.

“W-What Why!?” Erick called alarmed.

“I…I just can’t.” James said putting his head in his hands.

“James…” Erick said wrapping his arms around the older man. James shoved him off.

“I’m going to die in less than two months, Erick!” James cried looking over at him.

“I-I Kn-know.” Erick said taken back a bit by James sudden outburst.

“I…I can’t do this to you.” James said. “I can’t love you, and be loved by you, and then…just…just die!”

“…you won’t just die.” Erick said. “your memory will stay with me.”

“…Erick.” James said looking over at him.

“I’m not any more happier than you James, when it come to the fact that your almost on your death bed.” Erick said trying to put a stern face on but finding his eyes getting watery any way. “I wish you could stay more than anything. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want you to be with me…”

“…button..”

Erick sat in the dark of his apartment crying.

“Button?” James asked walking in. “Erick why are you crying?”

“O-One M-Month James…” Erick sobbed into his own hands. “Your going to leave me i-in one month….”

“…shhh…” James said walking over to him and kneeling before him, placing a hand on the top of his brunette head.

“H-How can I live with out y-you if you leave me…” Erick sobbed wrapping his arms around James neck.

“…you can do it Erick.” James said rubbing his back. “you’ll stay strong.”

“no I won’t!” Erick cried. “I won’t!”

“yes. You will.” He said rubbing his back. “think of all the wonderful times? Like how were completing the TD list?” James laughed.

“…o-or the first say you moved in?” Erick sniffed.

“Yeah,” ajmes whispered. “or your seventeenth birthday.”

Erick blushed. “Or our first kiss.”

Erick sighed and glanced at his paper when he finished writing.

“…Perfect.” He said smiling at it.

The most important person in my life? Now im sure most people would answer “my mom” or “My Dad” to that, or even a lifelong hero.

No. the most important person in my life is James Bolivar. My lover. My first love.
He died. When I meet him he had less than three months to live. And we made the best of it.
He was the most important man ever. He was 22 and I was 16 when we first met. The age difference was a problem and we never did anything until I turned 17.
He was a odd man. He had millions of knick-knacks.
He was immature, goofy, silly and couldn’t cook to save his life. But I loved him. And I still love him. So there. That’s the most important person in my life.


Erick smiled at his paper and gave a sigh. ‘Looks like I’m getting a F on this assiment.’ He thought tucking the paper in his bag. ‘I’m putting this by James grave..’


And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
